Your drive isn't as dead as it looks.
Hands-on data recovery for hard drives, SSDs, phones, and RAID arrays — worked sector by sector on our own bench in Pueblo, not shipped off to a lab. Part of Power On PC & Cell Repair.
- Free evaluation, every time
- No data, no fee — you pay only if we get the files you asked for
- About a week+ typical turnaround
If it stores data, we've probably had it apart.
Every case starts the same way: figure out exactly what's actually wrong before touching anything. Here's what tends to come across the bench.
Hard drives & SSDs
Bad sectors, dead controllers, drives that won't mount.
Phones & tablets
Water damage, dead boards, no power at all.
RAID & NAS arrays
Multi-drive rebuilds, not just single-drive tools.
Water & surge damage
Corrosion cleanup and board-level repair.
Mac won't boot
Migration Assistant failures, T1/T2 issues.
Windows boot loops
BSODs, corrupt boot records, BitLocker drives.
Real numbers, before you call.
Two tiers, and the free evaluation tells you which one you're in. Whichever it is, you get a firm price before any paid work starts, and you pay nothing if we can't recover your files.
$299.99 flat
The drive still works. The data is what's broken.
Deleted files, formatted or corrupted partitions, failed OS upgrades, drives that still read but won't mount.
Flat means flat: same price for 200GB or 4TB, same price whether it takes two hours or two months.
$1,000–$2,000
The drive itself has failed.
Drives that won't spin up, click, or have degraded heads — and anything that has to be opened in a cleanroom.
Where you land in that range depends on what failed, how large the drive is, how much damage there is, and whether it's encrypted. You get one number before we start.
Not sure which tier you're in? Nobody is, at first. That's what the free evaluation is for — give us a call and we'll find out. Donor parts, if your drive needs them, are billed separately at cost.
WHAT THAT MEANS FOR DONOR PARTS
Some physically failed drives can only be recovered using parts from an identical donor drive. We can't know whether yours needs one, or what a match will cost, until it's been evaluated — so donor parts sit outside the recovery quote and are billed at cost.
You'll hear the number before we buy anything. Nothing gets purchased on your behalf without your OK.
You see the file list first.
Nobody should have to take our word for it that the recovery worked.
The complete listing, emailed to you
When the recovery is done, we email you the full file and folder listing, and you confirm that the things you actually care about are in there.
WHAT'S IN THE LISTING
Every file we pulled, with the folder structure, names, and sizes intact — so you can find the specific photos, records, or documents you came in for, not just a file count.
Take your time with it. The files aren't going anywhere.
Then, and only then, you pay
If what you needed isn't in that list, you don't owe us anything. That's what “no data, no fee” means here: the files you asked for, not 40,000 recovered system files and an invoice.
No deposit, no payment upfront, no charge for the attempt.
The short version
Diagnose
SMART data, a physical inspection, sometimes a look under magnification — before we decide on an approach, we find out exactly what's actually failing.
Image
Where possible, we clone the original before attempting recovery, so a struggling drive is only put under read stress once.
Recover
Sector-by-sector rescue and file recovery from the image, working around bad regions instead of stopping at the first error.
Deliver
Recovered files handed back on your own media, or migrated straight to cloud storage if that's easier.
What the free evaluation actually is
“Free evaluation” is on every data recovery page on the internet. Here's exactly what ours involves.
What we do, and what you get back
You get a phone call telling you what failed, whether we think your files are recoverable, which tier it falls into, and the price. If you say no, you pick up your drive and owe nothing — no evaluation fee, no diagnostic charge, no sales pitch.
WHAT WE ACTUALLY DO TO THE DRIVE
Bring the drive in, or mail it. We check whether it powers up, pull its SMART data, and attempt a read to see how much of it still responds.
Where the drive allows it, we work from an image rather than the original, so a struggling drive is put under read stress as few times as possible. Everything after that happens against the copy.
When a drive has to be opened
We don't open drives here. When one needs to come apart, it goes to a cleanroom lab we work with, and we manage the whole job — you talk to us, not to them. You'll have the quote before anything leaves Pueblo, and nothing ships without your OK.
WHY WE SEND THOSE OUT
Opening a drive outside a controlled environment is how a recoverable drive becomes a permanently dead one. One speck of dust on a platter spinning at 7,200 RPM can end the job for good.
A shop that opens drives on an ordinary bench to save you the cleanroom fee is gambling with the only copy of your files. We'd rather quote you honestly and send it where it belongs.
A local bench shop, not a mail-in lab
The Pueblo Data Recovery Shop is the data recovery bench of Power On PC & Cell Repair, based right here in Pueblo, Colorado. Your drive stays local — on our own bench, imaged with our own tools. The only exception is a drive that has to be opened in a cleanroom, and even then you're dealing with us, not with a lab you'll never talk to.
We built our own recovery workstation and imaging workflow specifically for this kind of work, and we'd rather explain what's actually wrong with your drive than just tell you it's "dead."

Before you call
A few things people usually want to know before they bring a drive in.
How much will it cost?
Software-level recovery is $299.99 flat. Hardware recovery — failed drives, anything needing a cleanroom — runs $1,000 to $2,000 depending on the failure. The free evaluation tells us which one you're in, and you get a firm number before any paid work starts. See pricing for the full breakdown.
How long will it take?
Most jobs run about a week or more, depending on how the drive is failing and what recovery actually involves. We'll give you a better estimate once we've evaluated it.
Do I need to bring in my whole computer, or just the drive?
Just the drive or phone is usually enough. If you're not sure what's actually failing, bring the whole machine in and we'll figure out where the problem lives before we touch anything.
My drive is clicking or making a grinding noise — what should I do?
Power it off and stop using it. Every additional power-on of a physically failing drive risks turning a recoverable problem into an unrecoverable one. Bring it in as-is.
Is my data kept private?
Yes. Recovery happens on our own bench here in Pueblo, and nothing gets uploaded anywhere. We only open what's needed to recover and verify your files. The one time your drive leaves the shop is when it has to be opened in a cleanroom, and that never happens without your OK.
Can you recover an encrypted or BitLocker-locked drive?
Yes, as long as you have the encryption key or BitLocker recovery key. Without it, the encryption is working exactly as designed — there's no way around it, by us or anyone else.
Someone else already tried to fix it — does that change anything?
It might. A drive that's already been opened or worked on outside a controlled environment can be harder to recover, but it's still worth bringing in. We'll tell you honestly where things stand.
How long do you keep a copy of my data after the job?
Six months by default, on our own storage here in the shop, in case something goes wrong with your copy and you need it again. Want it wiped sooner? Say the word and it's gone. Want it held longer than six months? We can do that too, though long-term storage may add a small charge.
Will you sign an NDA? I've got client data on this drive.
Absolutely — send it over, or ask and we'll have one ready when you drop the drive off. We handle business and MSP clients regularly and we're used to working under confidentiality terms.
What are donor parts, and why are they billed separately?
Some physically failed drives can only be recovered using matching parts from an identical donor drive. We can't know whether yours needs one — or what a match will cost — until the drive is evaluated, so donor parts are billed at cost on top of the recovery quote. You'll hear the number before we buy anything.
Do you work on Macs and phones too, or just Windows PCs?
All of the above — Mac, Windows, Android, and iPhone. See what we recover for the full rundown.
Tell us what happened.
Describe the drive and what it's doing, and we'll tell you what we think before you bring anything in. No obligation, no cost.
Or just call the bench

If your drive is clicking, grinding, or was just pulled out of water, call instead of writing — and leave it powered off until we talk. Every extra power-on can turn a recoverable drive into an unrecoverable one.
